Our Social Media Comments Policy (Foster Wales)

​​​Members of the public are welcome to post comments and pictures on our social media accounts, however please be aware that your contributions are public and available to anybody visiting our accounts. Photographs of children or young people should not be shared without the permission of those with parental responsibility.

Comments and replies on our social media accounts reflect the views of the person submitting them, and do not reflect Foster Wales.

Please note that enquires made via our social media accounts will be processed by your Local Authority fostering team.

Anything posted on our social media accounts, or replies to our posts are also subject to the policies of the host provider e.g. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube.

To protect your privacy, and the privacy of others, do not include personal or confidential information in your comments or responses – unless we request these directly via private or direct messages. We can not discuss individual cases or circumstances on our social media channels, please contact your Local Authority directly.

Comments and replies on our social media accounts are not moderated prior to posting however we reserve the right to remove any material that:

  • poses a security or privacy risk
  • contains confidential information about yourself, or somebody else
  • refers to council employees by name
  • are considered spam or commercial advertising
  • are unlawful, harassing, abusive or threatening
  • are obscene, sexually suggestive or contain swearing
  • are racist, homophobic, ageist, sexist or perceived to be offensive to any group of individuals
  • are an infringement of intellectual property or copyright law
  • are in any other way deemed to be offensive or inappropriate for this page

Repeated violation of these rules will result in your account being blocked from our social media accounts. In serious cases, we may report a post to the police.

Comments you make on social media will not affect or influence the service you receive from Foster Wales.

Foster Wales does not endorse or take responsibility for any material that may be reached through links posted on our social media accounts. When you follow a link, please note that you are leaving Foster Wales accounts. Foster Wales may share information about community groups on social media if it is appropriate to our audience and is in keeping with the purpose of the account.

Only Foster Wales representatives acting in their official capacity are authorised to administer our social media accounts.

Foster Wales reserves the right to remove the comments functionality at any time if it is being abused.
