about alastair

I’m Alastair and I’m the Head of Foster Wales. My role is to work across our 22 local authorities to drive forward improvements for foster carers and the children and young people they care for. I have been working in children’s social care since 2008. Previously with a focus on those young people in and leaving care, and for the last 10 years in fostering.

I love to talk about fostering and find stories from our foster carers and young people inspirational. You might see me on the news, in the media or just in the community, sharing experiences of how fostering has made a positive impact.

I’m incredibly passionate about making a difference for our young people and improving their chances of living happy, healthy and successful lives. I’m also hugely committed to making our fostering community feel empowered, equipped and supported.

My hope for the future is, as 22 local authorities working together, every child who needs our care has the chance to thrive and every foster carer who provides that care gets the best possible support.
