All children have a 42 rights to make sure you have what you need to grow up feeling happy, healthy and safe. 

What are your rights?

Every child and young person have rights, no matter who you are, where you live, or what your situation is.

It is important for you to know all the things you are allowed to do, what you should get from adults in your life and to know when you are not being treated properly.

It’s important for you to remember that you and what is important to you matters.

The childrens commissioner makes sure that

  • You should always be treated with respect and should be listened to.
  • You have the right to be well looked after, to feel safe and to have a say in decisions that are made about you.
  • The adults in your life are responsible for encouraging and looking after your rights.
