what is kinship?

kinship care

There are 140,000 children living in kinship care in England and Wales - you are not alone.

kinship care

Kinship care is when family and friends step in to raise a child they know, it means love and stability at a time where your birth parents may not be able to care for you. This is also known as connected persons, as you may be living with someone you already know, who's not a relative.

Family outside front door of house

It could be with your Auntie or Uncle, grandparents, brother or sister, neighbour or teacher, anyone around you who is able to give you the care and support you need.

Everyone in kinship care may be living with someone different and for very different reasons but you all deserve to be cared for with love and respect.
